Schedule a free phone consultation through email. This allows for a opportunity to talk through what you're looking for, ask questions, and figure out whether working together makes sense. Currently scheduling for July.
Yes, I see patients in person in Pittsford, NY and I also offer telehealth. For most new patients, I prefer to start with an in-person visit, though I can discuss exceptions. Ongoing care can often be arranged as telehealth, in person, or a combination depending on your needs and preferences. As part of my practice, I like to explore the motivation for the virtual vs in person preference, as the context of care has effects on the treatment, and the context of care may be revisited on an ongoing basis. All patients, regardless of format, must be in New York State during appointments.
My practice is small and independent, which means I can offer a level of continuity, flexibility, and personalized care that can be hard to find in larger settings. Patients who do well here tend to be adolescents and adults who are medically stable, able to engage in regularly scheduled outpatient care, and looking for thoughtful, individualized treatment. This may includes at least weekly psychotherapy visits (with limits) and/or medication focused visits about every one to three months. However, it also means I don't have the infrastructure of a hospital clinic or community mental health center. If you have significant medical complexity, a history of frequent psychiatric hospitalizations, or anticipate needing after-hours support on a regular basis, a larger, more resourced setting may serve you better. I can help identify alternatives in this scenario.
I am not yet in-network with any insurance plans. Fees are paid directly by patients. I can provide a superbill on a monthly basis, which some patients use to seek partial reimbursement from their insurance company as an out-of-network provider. Whether that's possible, and how much you'd get back, depends on your specific plan, so it's worth calling your insurer ahead of time to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.

Payment is due at the time of each appointment. I accept major credit and debit cards through the electronic health record. Appointments that are cancelled with fewer than 48 hours' notice will be charged in full, so please get in touch as soon as possible if you need to reschedule.
The first visit is an evaluation lasting one hour. I'll want to hear about what's bringing you in now, but also your broader history: medical, psychiatric, family, and personal. The goal isn't just to arrive at a diagnosis, but to develop a real understanding of you and what you're looking for from treatment. By the end, we'll talk through my thoughts and discuss what next steps might look like, whether that's medication, therapy, a referral, or some combination.
If you are in immediate danger or having a psychiatric emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. You can also call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, at any time. Locally, Strong Memorial Hospital's Mental Health Crisis Call Line can be reached at (585) 275-8686.
